The interconnection backlog poses a notable challenge, with approximately 2.6 terawatts (TW) of energy capacity awaiting grid connection in the US at the end of 2023. Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology is a major contributor, accounting for over 1 TW of this capacity. Notably, 300 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity were added in 2023 alone, signifying a robust interest in renewable energy solutions.
