In recent studies conducted by Sensor Tower, it has been revealed that from January to August this year, global downloads of AI applications have surged significantly compared to the same period last year. Downloads have increased by 26%, reaching an impressive total of 2.2 billion. Additionally, revenue from in-app purchases in AI applications has seen a remarkable spike, climbing by 51% to hit $2 billion. Sensor Tower forecasts a substantial growth trajectory, predicting that the annual number of downloads will exceed 3.3 billion and annual revenues will surpass $3.3 billion by 2024. This rapid expansion is attributed largely to the ongoing growth of major AI apps, including ‘ChatGPT’.
The global distribution of AI app downloads shows India emerging as the leading market, accounting for 21% of global downloads by 2024. Other regions such as Latin America, Europe, and Southeast Asia also held significant shares, recording 20%, 15%, and 14% of the downloads respectively. Despite this, North America and Europe remain pivotal in revenue generation for AI apps. Together, these regions are expected to contribute 47% and 21% of total global revenue from January to August 2024, with North America standing out as the most profitable market for AI applications globally, capturing a 47% share of the revenue.

Following closely are other popular applications like ‘Remini’, ‘Photoroom AI Photo Editor’, and ‘Google Gemini’.
