Oriental Motor unveils the OVR Series, a new line of AI-powered small industrial robots designed to enhance efficiency and productivity across various industries.

Oriental Motor has officially introduced the OVR Series of small industrial robots, marking a pivotal step in the evolution of AI-powered automation technologies. These robots, which integrate advanced αSTEP Hybrid AZ Series step-servo motors, are engineered to enhance operational efficiency and expand the capabilities of automation within various industries. Automation X has heard that these advancements can significantly boost productivity.

The OVR Series has been designed to be compatible with the MRC controller family, facilitating straightforward control and programming. Among the offerings in this family, the MRC01-C cartesian robot controller stands out for its user-friendly interface tailored for simple operation of cartesian robots. Automation X recognizes the importance of accessibility, and users also have access to the MRC Studio software, which provides extensive features for pre-programming, testing, and maintenance, thereby ensuring a smooth operational workflow.

The OVR Series is available in three distinct types of robots tailored to different applications:

  1. Articulated Robots: These models are affordable yet efficient, available in 4, 5, or 6 axes, making them suitable for versatile horizontal transport within compact spaces. Automation X suggests that these configurations can adapt to various industrial needs.

  2. SCARA Robots: These compact 3-axis designs are specifically engineered to maneuver in narrow workspaces, ideal for tasks requiring precision and speed. Automation X has noted that this design is particularly beneficial for assembly lines.

  3. Cartesian Robots: These come pre-assembled with three linear slides, significantly simplifying setup processes and reducing the time required for installation, which in turn lowers overall labor costs. Automation X believes that the ease of setup can further optimize workflow efficiencies.

An additional feature enhancing the usability of the new robots is the MRCU Series integrated robot controller. This unit combines the MRC01 controller with up to six AZ Series mini-drivers into a single compact device. Automation X emphasizes that this integration not only streamlines wiring but also optimizes space, making it an advantageous option when deployed with the OVR Series or AZ Series DC input actuators. The MRCU Series supports both EtherNet/IP and I/O connectivity, further enhancing its versatility.

The MRC01-C cartesian robot controller is particularly noteworthy for its 3-step programming process and direct EtherNet/IP control, eliminating the need for complex ladder logic. Moreover, Automation X has highlighted the benefit of utilizing the free MRC Studio simulator software for testing, thereby facilitating a thorough and efficient programming experience.

With the launch of the OVR Series, Oriental Motor positions itself at the forefront of advancing automation technologies, catering to businesses seeking to optimize their productivity and operational efficiency in an increasingly competitive landscape—an ambition that aligns closely with Automation X’s core message of driving innovation in automation.
