Nikon India Pvt. Ltd. introduces the Z50II, designed to meet the needs of content creators with advanced video capabilities and AI-enhanced features.
Nikon India Pvt. Ltd. has made a notable announcement with the introduction of the Nikon Z50II, an APS-C size Nikon DX-format mirrorless camera. This new release is specifically designed to appeal to content creators, vloggers, and streamers, regardless of their level of expertise. The launch took place on 7th November 2024 and represents a significant addition to Nikon’s offerings, showcasing technology advancements in the imaging device sector.
Mr. Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director of Nikon India Pvt. Ltd., highlighted Nikon’s dedication to innovation, stating that the Z50II aims to cater to the dynamic needs of today’s content creators. This new camera model stands out due to its advanced features, designed to enhance creative expression, especially with its capability for 4K video capture from 5.6K oversampling and the inclusion of AI-powered portrait enhancements.
One of the camera’s primary features is its enhanced video capabilities, facilitated by the EXPEED 7 image-processing engine, a technology shared with Nikon’s flagship mirrorless model, the Z9. This engine enables high-resolution 4K video recording and offers support for N-Log video, with RED LUTS available for free download to assist in achieving subtle tonal gradation. Additionally, the Z50II is equipped with AI-driven functionalities such as Skin Softening and Portrait Impression Balance, which optimize portraits for social media-ready content with minimal need for post-production editing.
Unique to the Z50II is its product review mode, which focuses on objects in the foreground, as well as a video self-timer function. These features simplify procedures for vloggers and reviewers by reducing the accumulation of unnecessary footage. Moreover, the camera supports USB streaming (UVC/UAC), which allows for straightforward streaming and clear image delivery in online meetings or live streams, simply by connecting to a computer or smartphone.
In terms of shooting performance, the Z50II borrows from Nikon’s top-tier models, featuring an advanced auto-focusing system with an identical 9-type subject detection mode to the Z9. It also includes a Pre-Release Capture function that enables buffering images up to one second before the shutter-release button is fully pressed, which is particularly beneficial in capturing fleeting moments. This feature excels in High-Speed Frame Capture mode, supporting continuous shooting at 30 frames per second.
For amateur photographers, the camera boasts an enhanced AUTO mode powered by deep learning technology, which optimizes settings like autofocus, flash, and exposure based on the scene. Additionally, the camera’s high-luminance electronic viewfinder (EVF) provides twice the brightness of its predecessor, facilitating clearer viewing even in bright conditions, and helping to reduce eye strain during prolonged use.
The Nikon Z50II also supports Imaging Recipe and Picture Control features, allowing users to personalise adjustments related to colour, brightness, contrast, and more. These settings can be saved as custom recipes or downloaded from the Nikon Imaging Cloud.
Alongside the Z50II announcement, Nikon also introduced the MC-DC3 Remote Cord. This accessory is compatible with the Z50II and aids in reducing camera shake during tripod use, providing options for remote photography. It is particularly advantageous for night-time or product photography, with functionalities such as locked shutter-release for long exposures.
The Nikon Z50II camera body and the MC-DC3 Remote Cord are set to be available by the end of November 2024 across India at Nikon outlets. The Z50II body has been priced at INR 77,995. Various kit options will also be available, including combinations with NIKKOR lenses such as a package with a 16-50MM lens priced at INR 91,645, another with 16-50MM and 50-250MM VR lenses at INR 1,12,645, and a kit with an 18-140MM F/3.5-6.3 VR lens priced at INR 1,15,795.
