Meta Platforms Inc.’s AI assistant, Meta AI, has surpassed 500 million users, driving increased engagement on its platforms and positioning the company for future growth in the competitive AI landscape.
Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and several other digital services, has achieved a noteworthy accomplishment with its artificial intelligence assistant, Meta AI. This advancement brings the company closer to its ambition of becoming the leading generative AI assistant in the world. According to Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s founder and CEO, Meta AI has surpassed 500 million users, a milestone he confirmed recently during Meta’s latest earnings call.
The introduction of Meta AI took place just under a year ago, and its rapid user growth signifies a strong market penetration. Mark Zuckerberg remains confident in Meta AI’s trajectory, forecasting that it will become the most-utilised AI assistant by the culmination of 2024. Nevertheless, the specific parameters by which this usage will be defined have not been disclosed by Zuckerberg.
The success of Meta AI is complemented by other enhancements across Meta’s suite of platforms, primarily driven by artificial intelligence. Enhancements in AI have augmented user engagement with Facebook’s and Instagram’s feed and video content. Zuckerberg noted that these developments have led to an 8 percent increase in time users spend on Facebook, and a 5 percent increase in Instagram usage within the current year.
Moreover, advertisers have started capitalising on these AI capabilities, generating over 15 million ads using Meta’s generative AI tools in just the past month. Zuckerberg expressed his optimism about the future potential of AI-driven offerings, hinting at further innovation and expansion prospects.
In addition to its AI assistant’s achievements, Meta’s relatively new Threads app is also reporting significant growth. As per Zuckerberg’s statement, Threads now boasts nearly 275 million monthly active users. Engagement statistics appear promising, with Zuckerberg asserting that the app is attracting over a million new sign-ups daily and noting an uptick in user interactions with the platform.
These developments highlight Meta’s ongoing strategy to leverage artificial intelligence not only to enhance user experience across its platforms but also to reinforce its advertising ecosystem. As Meta continues on this path, it is positing itself as a formidable player in the growing arena of AI-driven digital solutions.
