Leia Inc has launched a new feature for its Immersity AI tool, transforming traditional 2D album art into dynamic visuals, enhancing the music experience for artists and listeners alike.

Leia Inc has unveiled a new feature for its Immersity AI tool, targeting musicians and music labels by offering a seamless way to enhance 2D album art with motion and depth. This innovation, which allows for dedicated Apple Music exports, marks a significant step in the ongoing evolution of digital music presentation.

The breakthrough tool employs generative AI to differentiate between background and foreground elements of images, enabling them to move independently. This enhancement produces a parallax effect that is visually striking, enhancing the static nature of traditional album covers. This follows a broader industry trend where online music platforms are increasingly gravitating towards more dynamic and engaging visual content.

By introducing this capability, Leia Inc is significantly lowering the barrier for musicians and labels to create animated album art. What once required a specialised team and a considerable budget can now be achieved in a matter of minutes. Users simply upload their album art to Immersity AI, select their preferred motion settings via intuitive presets, and export the final product. The tool automatically formats the animation to align with Apple Music’s Album Motion specifications, ensuring compatibility with required ratios such as 3:4 and 1:1, and incorporating blurred backgrounds.

While there may be concerns over how this technology could impact employment in the creative sector, the company highlights that it provides fresh opportunities for graphic designers and 3D artists. They can now offer this as an additional service to their clients, potentially expanding their scope of work and adding value to their deliverables.

This development follows another significant update to Immersity AI earlier in 2024, when the company introduced a feature to convert 2D videos into 3D. Originally known as LeiaPix, the software is powered by the company’s proprietary Neural Depth Engine, which utilises an algorithm trained on a vast database of millions of exclusive 3D images created with Leia’s own technology.

Fabio Esposito, CEO of Leia Inc, commented on the new feature, saying, “Album covers set the scene for listeners, providing a glimpse into a piece’s mood or vision before you hit play. With Immersity AI, these covers go beyond static visuals, transforming into immersive, dynamic pieces that engage listeners in more than just the music.”

The tool taps into the growing popularity of moving album artwork, catering to musicians eager to distinguish themselves in a crowded market on platforms such as Apple Music. Although the motion achieved through this technology currently results in a somewhat limited parallax effect, it represents a simple yet effective way to adopt a visual format that is rapidly gaining traction in the digital music realm.
