Kettle has announced the appointment of Isaac Espinoza as CEO, aiming to enhance its services for commercial property owners amidst the growing impacts of climate events.
Kettle, a burgeoning force in the realm of AI-enabled insurance and reinsurance for commercial property owners, has introduced Isaac Espinoza as its new Chief Executive Officer. Taking the helm at a time when the industry is grappling with increasingly unpredictable climate events, Espinoza is set to lead Kettle as it strives to cater to areas heavily impacted by climatic catastrophes.
Espinoza comes to Kettle with a robust background in the insurance sector, bringing nearly two decades of expertise to the table. Prior to this role, he was the Senior Vice President at Root, where he oversaw the company’s reinsurance strategies and managed its corporate actuarial and venture functions. His extensive experience also includes a tenure at Greenlight Re, where he was involved in investing and operations, providing support for various insurtech startups, while contributing to the innovation, actuarial, and underwriting teams.
Upon his appointment, Espinoza expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to drive change within the industry during a particularly challenging time for insurers. He stated, “I’m excited to continue my career as an operator and leader, working on some of the most important existential questions for the insurance industry and for our planet. Kettle has a head-start on modelling emerging risks and providing insurance options in a market where protection is harder and harder to come by.”
The strategic foresight in selecting Espinoza as CEO is also echoed by Son Le, the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Kettle. Le remarked, “We’re at an inflection point where our unique models can offer protection to customers currently underserved by incumbent providers. Isaac’s arrival is exciting for Kettle and our future in the industry.”
Kettle’s substantial growth trajectory is backed by a consortium of prominent investors, including Acrew Capital, True Ventures, Valor Venture Partners, Lower Carbon Capital, and Anthemis, among others. In the past year, Kettle has seen its premium base triple, demonstrating its significant rise within the industry.
Lauren Kolodny, a partner at Acrew Capital, which spearheaded Kettle’s $25 million Series A funding round in 2021, expressed confidence in Espinoza’s leadership. “Isaac’s arrival is an exciting evolution for Kettle as it expands into new lines and new states. This year has been an important growth year. We’re thrilled to welcome Isaac’s leadership.”
As Kettle continues to expand and innovate, the appointment of Espinoza is viewed as a pivotal development that could potentially strengthen its position within the competitive landscape of insurtech. His leadership is anticipated to further enhance Kettle’s ability to address the complex challenges posed by climate change and provide robust solutions for commercial property owners.
