Infineon Technologies AG has announced the launch of DEEPCRAFT, a new software category brand designed to elevate its presence in Edge AI, offering a range of innovative solutions for consumer and industrial applications.
Infineon Technologies AG, a global leader in semiconductor solutions, has announced enhancements to its artificial intelligence (AI) software offerings with the introduction of a new software category brand, DEEPCRAFT. This initiative is designed to strengthen Infineon’s presence in the burgeoning field of Edge AI, catering to the increasing demand for smart, versatile solutions across both consumer and industrial sectors.
The announcement was made by Thomas Rosteck, president of Infineon’s connected secure systems division, who emphasized the company’s commitment to providing innovative, reliable, and environmentally sustainable AI solutions. Rosteck highlighted the almost boundless applications for Edge AI, expressing pride in Infineon’s role in facilitating cutting-edge developments for its customers. The DEEPCRAFT brand aims to ensure that Infineon’s AI software and hardware integrate smoothly, delivering a diverse array of solutions tailored to various market needs.
DEEPCRAFT encompasses Infineon’s existing AI software products as well as new tools and models. The portfolio includes DEEPCRAFT Studio and DEEPCRAFT Ready Models, which were previously known as Imagimob Studio and Imagimob Ready Models. These products form the foundation of the DEEPCRAFT suite, which promises to expand with additional tools and solutions for Edge AI and Machine Learning (ML).
In conjunction with the DEEPCRAFT launch, Infineon’s subsidiary, Imagimob, revealed an expanded line-up of Ready Models. These new models are geared for easy deployment and production, addressing specific needs such as gesture and surface detection via radar sensors, human fall detection through accelerometers, and enhanced audio detection capabilities for industrial purposes.
The newly introduced Ready Models include:
-
Direction of Sound Arrival Detection Model: This can be integrated with other audio detection models to determine the direction of sound. In automotive applications, it allows vehicles to detect the direction of approaching emergency sirens, enhancing safety systems and enabling functions such as autonomous driving.
-
Surface Detection Model: Designed for use in smart lawn mowers, this radar-based model distinguishes between grass and other surfaces, enhancing device performance.
-
Factory Alarm Detection Model: This model improves worker safety by sending alerts to workers using noise-cancelling equipment, ensuring they are aware of crucial alarms or sirens.
-
Gesture Detection Model: Enhancing usability in smart home and lifestyle products, this radar-based model can recognise five distinct hand gestures to control devices like adjusting volume or switching gadgets on or off.
-
Fall Detection Model: Utilising accelerometers, this model detects falls with low battery consumption, making it suitable for wearable devices aimed at protecting users, including the elderly.
Anders Hardebring, CEO of Imagimob, remarked on the expanded model range, highlighting the potential for rapid AI integration into products and services, thus unlocking new possibilities for safer, more intelligent, and sustainable solutions. This development marks a significant stride in creating an ecosystem where customers can find comprehensive AI model solutions under the DEEPCRAFT brand.
Imagimob, now under Infineon since May 2023, plays a crucial role in advancing Edge AI and tiny ML technologies. With DEEPCRAFT Studio, users can rapidly develop end-to-end Edge AI applications for embedded systems, while the off-the-shelf Ready Models facilitate straightforward AI implementation.
With these advancements, Infineon continues to solidify its position as a key player in AI innovation, aiming to enhance product effectiveness and market readiness for a range of applications.
