The East of England Co-op enhances its forecourt operations with the implementation of the award-winning EDGEPoS system from Henderson Technology, improving efficiency and customer service.
The East of England Co-op has successfully completed the implementation of EDGEPoS, an award-winning software system developed by Henderson Technology, across five of its forecourt sites located in Felixstowe, Colchester, Brightlingsea, Ipswich, and Framlingham. This initiative, which involved the installation of two tills per site, marks a significant upgrade in the operational capabilities at these locations, including a full integration with fuel sales.
The transition to EDGEPoS has enabled the East of England Co-op to establish a direct product feed from its central database to the forecourts, enhancing the overall efficiency and data management processes. Notably, the system now accommodates membership cards, as well as employee discount cards, streamlining the customer account management process. Furthermore, it allows store personnel to have increased visibility over transactions classified as Drive Off and No Means To Pay, thereby enhancing transaction monitoring and reporting functionalities.
James Norman, the Chief Finance Officer at the East of England Co-op, expressed the organisation’s motivation behind adopting EDGEPoS, highlighting its capability to collect and analyse critical sales data. Norman stated that understanding customer purchasing patterns at forecourt locations is essential in today’s competitive landscape. He noted the importance of providing consistency in offers across both food stores and forecourts, ultimately delivering better value for their members and customers.
From Henderson Technology’s standpoint, Retail Technology Operations Director Darren Nickles stated his satisfaction with the partnership, mentioning that the process has significantly bolstered the efficiency of the Co-op’s forecourt operations. The EDGEPoS system has been noted for its ability to integrate seamlessly with fuel pumps, facilitating efficient transactions along with real-time monitoring of fuel sales and detailed reporting. Nickles also pointed out that this cutting-edge technology has the potential to enhance customer satisfaction and modernise forecourt management.
Looking ahead, the collaboration between Henderson Technology and the East of England Co-op is set to include the implementation of promotional offers, along with enhancements to stock management and pricing systems. These advancements will further augment the reporting visibility at the five sites, contributing to improved operational effectiveness.
The East of England Co-op stands as the largest independent retailer in East Anglia, employing over 3,000 people across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire. With a membership base of approximately 280,000 and over 120 food stores and supermarkets in the region, the Co-op continues to explore innovative technological solutions to enhance the customer shopping experience.
EDGEPoS from Henderson Technology is positioned as a powerful system that supports rapid transactions, efficient inventory management, and comprehensive sales analytics, effectively maximising operational efficiency and customer service in an increasingly competitive retail environment.
