Cisco’s WebexOne event in Florida highlights the launch of new AI-driven solutions and collaboration tools, attracting over 15,000 participants and marking a significant stride in enhancing user interactions.
Cisco’s annual WebexOne event, held last week in Florida, attracted considerable attention, with over two thousand participants attending in person and an impressive 15,000 joining virtually. This year’s event marked the fifth iteration of WebexOne and showcased developments across Cisco’s collaboration and AI technology, overshadowing the size of the inaugural in-person conference held in California.
A significant highlight at WebexOne was the unveiling of Cisco’s new AI-driven solutions. A year after introducing the Webex AI Assistant, Cisco has advanced its AI offerings with the launch of AI Agent. This innovative solution employs conversational intelligence and generative AI to automate contact centre tasks, enhancing the speed and efficiency of problem resolution. Cisco explained that AI Agent is designed to handle first-time calls with a level of interaction and engagement comparable to a human agent. Jeetu Patel, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer at Cisco, elaborated on the company’s AI vision, noting that future product design will inherently incorporate AI to transform customer experiences.
To aid in the deployment of these new AI solutions, Cisco also introduced AI Agent Studio. This platform is aimed at simplifying the training and implementation of AI agents, tailored for business users and IT administrators, and promises exceptional scalability and accessibility. General availability of AI Agent and AI Agent Studio is slated for the first quarter of next year, with customer trials commencing in the second quarter. Meanwhile, the Webex AI Assistant is now readily available within Cisco’s cloud contact centre framework.
Beyond customer experience enhancements, Cisco extended its AI innovations to collaboration technologies. A notable development involves Vidcast, which will soon be capable of generating scripts and voice-overs in various languages and tones from uploaded PDF or PPT files—streamlining and enriching user interactions. Additional updates to Vidcast include features such as highlights, chapters, and transcripts, which aim to improve asynchronous communication within organisations. Moreover, Slido, the interactive presentation tool, has been enhanced with AI capabilities to generate poll suggestions dynamically during meetings or presentations.
Alongside AI advancements, Cisco also spotlighted its burgeoning partnership with Apple, introducing a novel feature that upgrades any Cisco Room Bar Pro into a spatial video device. This enhancement allows users to engage in spatial meetings using Apple Vision Pro headsets, as part of Cisco’s vision to achieve “Distance Zero”—eliminating perceived barriers between participants irrespective of physical distance. Snorre Kjesbu, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Collaboration Devices, highlighted the potential applications of this technology, such as design interactions, factory inspections, and training sessions.
In the realm of meeting room technology, Cisco unveiled the Ceiling Microphone Pro, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to enhancing audio experiences. This AI-driven device boasts the ability to adaptively adjust to speaker positions and room configurations, ensuring immersive audio quality in meeting spaces. With ease of installation—a process that reportedly takes just a few minutes thanks to AI calibration—the Ceiling Microphone Pro was met with enthusiasm at the event.
WebexOne continues to serve as a platform for Cisco to demonstrate its innovations and plans for future developments in AI and collaboration technologies, reflecting the company’s strategic focus on enhancing user experience through technological advancements. As these new products and features become available, they are poised to further redefine user interaction in contact centres and collaborative environments.
