Alphawave Semi will showcase breakthrough semiconductor technologies, including the industry’s first PCIe 6/1.6T Ethernet I/O chiplet and advanced PCIe 7.0 transmission at the Supercomputing Conference 2024, promising to enhance AI and HPC capabilities.
Alphawave Semi to Unveil Cutting-Edge AI and Connectivity Innovations at SC24 in Atlanta
Alphawave Semi, a leader in semiconductor technology, is set to present significant advancements in high-performance computing (HPC) and connectivity at the upcoming Supercomputing Conference 2024 (SC24). The event will be held from November 17 to 22 at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center. This prominent conference will provide a platform for showcasing the latest technologies in data processing and storage, networking, and analysis.
The company will highlight its pioneering developments which include the introduction of the industry’s first PCIe 6/1.6T Ethernet I/O chiplet, along with cutting-edge PCIe 7.0 transmission technology capable of 128 Gbps over copper lines. These innovations are particularly poised to enhance the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), HPC, and hyperscale data centres.
Key demonstrations will span several booths across the conference floor, namely in conjunction with technology partners such as PCI-SIG®, the CXL™ Consortium, and leading interconnect companies Lessengers and Samtec.
One of the anticipated showcases is the debut of the first I/O chiplet with integrated UCIe, Ethernet, PCIe, and CXL. This chiplet is designed to meet the growing demand for high-bandwidth applications in sectors such as AI and data centres. This demonstration will take place at the Open Standards Pavilion at UCIe Consortium Booth 1815.
In a separate exhibition, Alphawave Semi will demonstrate its Gen7 PCIe capabilities over copper. The 128 Gbps PAM4 SerDes transmission will highlight the potential of near-chip, high-density connections, akin to those used in GPU-GPU accelerators. This exhibit will be at the Samtec Booth 1125.
Alphawave’s collaboration with Lessengers will showcase 106 Gbps PAM4 SerDes transmission through immersion-cooled pluggable optical interconnects. This involves high-density interconnects designed to simulate future GPU-to-GPU connections, exemplifying the versatile applications of this SerDes IP across various silicon processes from 3nm to 7nm. Visitors can witness this at Lessengers Booth 609.
Further advancements will be demonstrated through robust PCIe 6.0 interoperability testing with Alphawave’s PipeCore subsystem and Keysight technology, showcasing higher data rates fitting for hyperscale applications. This will be located at the PCI-SIG Booth 3354.
Another notable exhibit is the PCIe 6.0 subsystem’s capability with OSFP-XD PCIe direct attach cabling, driving a high-density connection at 64 Gbps and showcasing advancements in low latency compute interfaces crucial for AI and machine learning. This demonstration will be held at CXL Consortium Booth 1807 in partnership with Amphenol, emphasizing the future of CopprLink architectures.
In addition to hardware innovations, Alphawave will display energy-efficient accelerator cards, illustrating the effectiveness of chiplet-to-chiplet optical connectivity. These accelerator cards will incorporate Alphawave’s Arm Neoverse Compute Chiplet and the AlphaCHIP1600 I/O Chiplet, further enhancing specialised CPU solutions for AI and ML infrastructure, at Lessengers Booth 609.
These demonstrations underscore Alphawave Semi’s commitment to pushing technological boundaries in the semiconductor industry, offering insights into the future of AI, HPC, and data centre interconnectivity. Participants at SC24 can expect a comprehensive overview of how these advancements could re-shape the landscape of data processing and connectivity.
