Airbnb launches a Co-Host Network in 10 countries to assist hosts in managing listings, alongside over 50 platform enhancements aimed at improving user experience.

Airbnb has introduced a new Co-Host Network, aimed at assisting property hosts with managing their listings more effectively. Announced as part of Airbnb’s winter release updates, the Co-Host Network is designed to help hosts juggle the complexities of property management by connecting them with experienced local co-hosts. This network was officially launched in 10 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

This initiative is described by Airbnb’s co-founder and CEO, Brian Chesky, as a way to personalise the travel app experience, moving away from a “one-size-fits-all” approach. More than 10,000 co-hosts, each with a minimum average rating of 4.86 out of 5 and having managed at least 10 stays, are now part of this network. This ensures that hosts have access to high-quality support and management services, from arranging listings and determining pricing to managing guest interactions and organising cleaning and maintenance.

Hosts looking to hire co-hosts can go through profiles of potential candidates directly on the Airbnb app, where they can see detailed information on each co-host’s skills, experience, and rates. Co-hosts have the flexibility to set their own pricing for the services they offer, with fees typically ranging from 17% to 20% of the host’s total payouts.

Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s chief business officer, emphasised the importance of supporting both hosts and guests on the platform, citing that many Airbnb listings are unique and only available through their service. The co-hosting feature is seen as a means to maintain and potentially increase the number of listings, providing hosts with the support they need to manage properties efficiently.

In addition to the Co-Host Network, Airbnb is rolling out over 50 enhancements to its platform, focusing on improving user experience for both hosts and guests. New features for hosts include a pricing tool that suggests rates based on local market data, customisable message templates for guest communication, and an upgraded earnings dashboard for detailed financial tracking.

Improvements aimed at guests feature a redesigned app interface, including a welcome tour for first-time users, enhanced search filters, and localised payment methods such as Vipps in Norway, Mobile Pay in Denmark, and MoMo in Vietnam. The platform also leverages AI technology to streamline common inquiries, potentially offering a more responsive customer service experience.

Airbnb continues to refine its core services while exploring future expansions into new verticals. With the launch of the co-host service and the extensive app updates, the company aims to retain and attract more users by making hosting simpler and providing uniquely personalised travel experiences.
