An artificial intelligence-driven version of the legendary TV presenter Michael Parkinson is set to host a groundbreaking podcast titled “Virtually Parkinson.” This project, heralded as a “world first” by its creators, is being undertaken by Deep Fusion Films. The podcast will feature unscripted conversations between various guests and the AI recreation of Parkinson, drawing on his extensive career. The technology relies on a vast repository of knowledge derived from more than 2,000 interviews conducted by Parkinson with notable cultural figures. This podcast represents the latest in a series of AI projects from Deep Fusion, commissioned by Night Train Media’s new label, Night Train Digital, which also manages the official Parkinson YouTube channel.

The podcast aims to rekindle the charisma and conversational style of Parkinson, who passed away last year at the age of 88 after a distinguished career. During his time as a talk show host, Parkinson interviewed high-profile guests such as Muhammad Ali, Elton John, Madonna, Helen Mirren, Tom Cruise, and Robert De Niro. According to Caitlin Meek-O’Connor, the director of the project, Night Train Digital is thrilled to embark on this innovative venture, which not only brings new content to audiences but also preserves the legacy of an iconic archive for both longtime fans and new viewers to experience.

Channel 4 Explores the Harrowing Story of Kenneth Law

Channel 4 is set to delve into a disturbing investigation centring on Canadian chef Kenneth Law, who stands accused of distributing lethal substances to suicidal young people worldwide. The documentary, currently titled “Poison,” is a collaboration with Wonderhood Studios and follows the investigative work of The Times Social Affairs Editor, James Beal.

The story initiated in 2022 when Beal was approached by a grieving father desperate to uncover the truth behind his son Tom’s tragic death. The investigation revealed that Law allegedly sent more than 1,000 packages of poison across the globe. He is now facing multiple first-degree murder charges in Canada, allegations that he denies. The UK’s National Crime Agency has identified 97 victims within the country who purportedly purchased the poison from Law’s website.

Channel 4 commissioner Anna Miralis has noted the timeliness of the series, given the rising suicide rates among young people. The documentary promises to unearth the personal stories behind the statistics related to Law’s case.

Keshet’s German Adaptation of Comedy Series ‘Messiah’

In a move that signals Keshet’s expanding reach, the company has secured its first local adaptation of the comedy series “Messiah” for the German market. Streaming platform Joyn has commissioned this adaptation, which tells the story of a one-hit-wonder caught in his 1990s heyday, managing his mother’s old restaurant while aspiring to return to musical fame.

This version will be an eight-episode series, produced by Keshet Germany, specifically tailored for ProSiebenSat.1’s streaming service Joyn. The show is crafted by writer Sebastian Colley, known for his work on “Kroymann” and “How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast),” and directed by Felix Stienz, recognised for productions like “Merz Gegen Merz” and “You Don’t Die Among Friends.”

Kelly Wright, Keshet International’s Managing Director of Distribution, highlighted the unique interpretation of Germany’s Eurodance movement from the 1990s, bringing “Messiah” to a new audience with regional flair. The adaptation underscores Keshet’s strategy to create culturally resonant content across diverse global markets.
