Cato Networks joins AI incident sharing initiative to bolster cybersecurity

Cato Networks, a prominent name in the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) arena, has announced its participation in the AI Incident Sharing Initiative. This collaborative endeavour, launched by the MITRE Engenuity Center for Threat-Informed Defense in conjunction with MITRE ATLAS, aims to bolster community knowledge regarding threats and protective measures for AI-enabled systems. Cato Networks joins this initiative alongside notable tech industry giants such as CrowdStrike and Microsoft.

“We at Cato Networks recognise artificial intelligence as a particularly vulnerable vector for threats,” stated Etay Maor, the Chief Security Strategist at Cato Networks and a founding member of Cato CTRL. Maor emphasised the critical need for public-private partnerships to safeguard AI technologies from potential security threats. He expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with MITRE and other partners in this initiative, highlighting the importance of collective effort in cybersecurity.

Jon Baker, the Director of Research and Development at the Center for Threat-Informed Defense within MITRE Engenuity, expressed confidence in Cato Networks’ contributions. “As a leader in threat intelligence, Cato Networks’ expertise in AI will greatly enhance the AI Incident Sharing Initiative,” he remarked. The initiative is envisioned as a secure platform for sharing incidents related to AI assurance, facilitating collaboration amongst industry professionals, governmental bodies, and the broader community.

Apart from Cato Networks, the initiative’s roster of collaborators includes AttackIQ, BlueRock, Booz Allen Hamilton, Citigroup, Cloud Security Alliance, FS-ISAC, Fujitsu, HCA Healthcare, HiddenLayer, Intel, JPMorgan Chase Bank, Standard Chartered, and Verizon Business. Together, these entities will build a trusted network where participants can contribute anonymised data on AI-related incidents. This shared information aims to support large-scale, data-driven risk intelligence and analysis within the AI community.

Organisations interested in joining this initiative can submit incidents via the public incident sharing portal, accessible at https://ai-incidents.mitre.org/. Upon submission, these organisations will be evaluated for inclusion in the trusted community that receives this valuable shared data.
