Furthermore, there is a strong expectation of increased investment in cybersecurity, with 91% of respondents anticipating a rise in budget allocations by 2025.
Investment priorities are clearly defined within the survey findings, with AI technologies earmarked for network security (41%) and cloud security (40%) taking precedence among Australian businesses. In practical terms, 47% of the IT professionals surveyed have already implemented AI tools for malware detection, further reinforcing AI’s critical role in proactive threat detection and prevention strategies. The overwhelming adoption of AI-assisted tools is underscored by a staggering 96% of respondents using such technologies to bolster their cybersecurity protocols.
While the potential risks associated with AI—such as deepfake impersonation and enhanced phishing methods—remain a concern, the sentiment among Australian IT professionals leans more towards trust in AI capabilities. He stated that the prevailing belief is that the benefits of AI in strengthening defenses significantly outweigh its associated risks. To further these initiatives, Australian IT leaders are encouraged to adopt a structured methodology in incorporating AI into their cybersecurity strategies.
